FAQs on 2025 Lead to China Heritage Tours
Q: Why should I travel with Lead to China?
A: Since 2008, Lead to China has been the premier China-based heritage tour operator, specializing in unique, family-centered tours for adoptive families. We are committed to providing an authentic and meaningful experience, free from shopping stops or factory visits, ensuring you focus solely on your homeland journey. With a deep understanding of the needs of adoptive families, we’ve earned TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence year after year. Our dedicated service has made us the trusted choice for hundreds of families annually, with 98% of our clients recommending us. Let us help you create memories that will last a lifetime.
Q: How many people will be in a small group?
A: To ensure a comfortable and personalized experience, we keep our groups small. We believe that smaller groups allow for more meaningful interactions with your guide and a more enjoyable trip overall. Therefore, each group will have no more than 25 participants.
Q: Is the tour free for Chinese adoptees?
A: The pricing for our 2025 Heritage Tours is based on the size and composition of your family. Our goal is to offer discounts to adoptive families, depending on the number of participants. The tour is designed for the entire family, not just the adopted child(ren) from China.
If you would like to visit your child's birthplace or orphanage, we are happy to provide a customized itinerary and quote tailored to your needs. Lead to China is committed to offering high-quality service at the best possible price.
Q: What if we can't participate in the full group tour due to limited vacation time?
A: We understand that time constraints can be a factor, and we're here to help. If you can't join the full group tour, you have flexible options. You can choose our "LTC Heritage Tours B," which includes the highlights of Beijing, Xi'an, and Chengdu, or our "LTC Heritage Tours C," which focuses on the core destinations of Beijing and Xi'an. We're happy to work with you to create a customized itinerary that fits your schedule, ensuring you still have a memorable and meaningful experience.
Q: Will LTC book the international flight to and from China?
A: International air tickets are not included in our fixed itinerary. We recommend using a trusted local online platform for booking your flights, or feel free to contact us for pricing and comparison.
Q: How will the room be arranged?
A: Room arrangements will be made based on the number of people and the age(s) of the child(ren). Generally, two adults and one child will be placed in a standard room with an extra bed. Two adults and two children will either be assigned two rooms or a larger room, depending on availability. If you have any special requests, please feel free to let us know.
Q: What types of meals can we expect in China?
Typically, we include two meals per day: breakfast and lunch. While some unique dining experiences, such as roast duck, are included, most dinners are left for you to explore on your own. Breakfast is usually served at your hotel and may be Western-style, Chinese-style, or a combination, depending on the hotel. Lunches are a la carte at local restaurants, and we ensure that all food is prepared with proper hygiene. Our guides will assist with ordering dishes based on the number of people and any specific dietary needs of the group.
Q: I/we have food allergies. Will the LTC tour guides assist with special meal arrangements?
A: Yes, if you have any dietary restrictions or food allergies, please let us know at the time of booking so we can make the necessary arrangements. We always respect our clients' dietary preferences and strive to accommodate them. For vegetarians or vegans, our guides will help choose suitable dishes. However, please note that this is a group tour, and meals will be shared with other participants, so the variety of dishes may be influenced by the group's preferences.
Q: If my/our child's orphanage is in one of the cities we will visit on the Heritage Tour, can we separate from the group for a day to visit the orphanage?
A: Yes, you can arrange a day trip to visit your child's orphanage while the group is in that city. The additional cost for this visit would be approximately $200–$400 per family, depending on the location and specific arrangements.
Q: Can you help us arrange additional stays in Beijing or extend our time in China before or after the main group tour?
A: Yes, Lead to China can assist with all arrangements for your stay in China, whether before or after the main tour. This includes hotel accommodations, airport transfers, driver/guide services, sightseeing, and more. Please contact us for further details.
Q: Is it possible to make changes to my booking after paying the deposit?
A: Yes, you can make changes to your booking. Just inform your travel consultant, who is always happy to assist and is known for their patience in handling such requests.
Q: Which countries do other families typically come from? Can we get in touch before the tour?
A: For the 2025 LTC Heritage Tour, we will provide highly experienced English-speaking tour guides to accompany your group. The majority of adoptive families participating in the group tour are from the United States, though we also welcome families from countries like Canada, the Netherlands, Denmark, Spain, and others. Before the tour, we will set up a WeChat or Facebook group to facilitate communication and help group members connect in advance.
Q: What kind of insurance do you offer if we book a tour with you?
A: Lead to China provides two types of insurance for our clients: Travel Agency Liability Insurance (TALI) and Accident Insurance for Domestic Travel. TALI, regulated by the China National Tourism Administration, covers personal or property losses, injuries, or damages that occur during the guided tour. The Accident Insurance includes coverage for:
1. Injury or death caused by accidents, high-risk activities, or traffic incidents.
2. Death due to acute illness (including sudden death) or permanent disability.
3. Medical expenses for injuries or acute illnesses.
However, we recommend that clients purchase international travel insurance as well, as insurance services in China may not offer the same level of coverage or security as in many European and American countries. LTC strongly suggests arranging additional insurance for your peace of mind while traveling in China.
Q: How about the visa application?
A: To visit mainland China, travelers must apply for an entry visa in advance. We recommend applying for your Chinese visa 3-4 months before your trip. You can apply through a courier service or by submitting your application directly to a Chinese Consulate or Embassy. While Lead to China does not provide visa services, we can assist by providing an official invitation letter to support your visa application.
