A Chinese Return Trip To PingNan

On July 29th, an American adoptive family came to the Social Welfare Center of Pingnan County with a daughter adopted 19 years ago. During the return trip, they met the nanny that took care of the girl, checked the files, visited the abandonment location, visited the children's playroom of the orphanage, and  a local longan orchard.

Gong Endo, a girl who was born on Oct. 17, 1999. On October 19th, she was picked up by two policemen at the intersection of Bada Street in Pingnan County and sent to the Pingnan SWI for raising. In June 2000, Xiao Endu was adopted by a kind American couple and found her permanent home.

For abandoned children, the greatest welfare is to return to the family, so that they have a normal growth environment. There are fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters. They can learn, work, marry, have children... these are the greatest respect for them.

As adoptees begin to come of age, many are experiencing questions of personal identity and curiosity about their origins and birth culture. A return trip will certainly answer a lot of questions.
