Chongqing Climate
Chongqing is located in the edge of Sichuan Basin and along Yangtze River. It has a humid subtropical monsoon climate. The annual temperature averages 18C (64F) to 20C (68F), but the lowest temperature is 4C (39F) in winter and the highest temperature 40C (104F) in summer. Chongqing is a sweltering city known as one of the steaming boxes in China. July and August are the hottest months in Chongqing. Chongqing is also a foggy city with about 100 foggy days in spring and summer. The average rainfall of Chongqing is from 1000 to 1400 millimeters (39 to 55 inches) annually. And it usually occurs in evening all year round.
T-shirts, shorts and sandals is comfortable if you come in summer. Also, remember to bring your umbrella, sunglasses, and suntan lotion to avoid the frequent rainfall and sunshine. Chongqing is a multi-cultural prefecture. In addition to the traditional Chinese festivals, the minority have their own unique folk festivals. Every January 3 to 15 of the lunar calendar, Tujia people hold grand activities of worship, praying and dancing. The Miao people express themselves through singing at the annual Ganqiu Festival, which is celebrated by singing songs. But young men and girls express their love by dint of the festivals. It is good times to visit Chongqing from March to June and from September to November, when there is a good weather in the city.
