Tianjin Climate

Under the influence of Bohai Sea, Tianjin has a semi-moist continental monsoon climate with distinct seasons. Four seasons distinguish each other in Tianjin: a dry and windy spring, a torrid and rainy summer, a short but golden autumn and a long and arctic winter. In autumn from September to October, with cool and golden weather, it was considered the best season to visit Tianjin.

From early April to the end of May, it is the period of warm, windy and dry spring for Tianjin. Lightweight clothing such as long-sleeved shirts, jackets and sweaters are necessities for enjoying outdoor nightlife in Tianjin, because though the temperature rises in spring, the difference between day and night is extreme.

Summer steps into Tianjin with sufficient rainfall in early July and did not leave till mid-September. The temperature in July and August varies between 30 C (86 F) and 40 C (104 F) and calls for cool clothes. It is a period when short and heavy rainstorms occur frequently in the afternoons of sunny days. So remember to take umbrella and raincoat with you when going out and make preparation for the jam by the heavy rain.

Autumn is cool with a mild and pleasant temperature, while winter is very cold sometimes.

The chilly, dry and sunny-days-prevailing winter of Tianjin is from early November to the next March, with the average temperature of lower than 0 C (32 F). Winter clothes, including wool sweaters and thick coats are needed during the winter. You need to do something to drive out the chills. Although Tianjin is frozen at Chinese Spring Festival on January or February, you can experience the interesting Chinese folk customs on the biggest traditional festival.
