2024 China orphanage visits to Kunming CWI

On August 15, 2024, Yong'an, accompanied by his mother and sister from the Netherlands, embarked on a journey to revisit his roots.

 

At 9 a.m., they departed from the hotel and arrived at the Kunming Children's Welfare Institute, where the director and staff had eagerly been waiting for their arrival. The director warmly welcomed them, inquired about Yongan's development, and presented them with thoughtful gifts from the institute, including a traditional ethnic bag, tea, and a book about the institute. In return, the adoptive family brought gifts for the children, including clothing, educational supplies, food, and a donation.

 

 

 

 

 

 

During their return visit, the adoptive family interacted with the children at the institute and had a reunion with the caretakers who had once cared for Yong'an. The caretakers were genuinely thrilled to see how Yong'an had grown and changed.

 

 

 

Next, the family visited the site where Yong'an was found, and fortunately, the location still existed. 

 

Finally, they arrived at the foster village where Yong'an had spent two years of his life. The foster mother warmly greeted them at the village entrance. Returning to his former home was an emotional experience, with both mothers and the children sharing stories of  Yongan's past and expressing their gratitude. The love shared during this moment was pure and deeply touching.

 

After 15 years,  their reunion journey was finally complete. We are honoured to have witnessed the deep bond between them. We were touched by Yongan's growth and wish Yong'an and his family all the best and look forward to their next reunion!
