Root-Seeking Trip: A US Family's Return to Shanggao CWI

On June 13, 2024, Claire, accompanied by her mother and two sisters returned to Shanggao County Children's Welfare Institute in Jiangxi Province, China. The purpose of their trip was to revisit and experience the place that had once changed their lives, marking their first return since adopting a child from the institute in 2005.
Early in the morning, they departed from their hotel in Nanchang and drove to the Shanggao CWI. Upon arrival, they were greeted with a brief yet heartfelt welcoming ceremony attended by the orphanage's director and staff, who expressed warm appreciation for this special family.
What touched them deeply was the director's arrangement for Claire's former foster mother to join the visit. Together, they toured various areas of the orphanage, reliving memories and recognizing the institute's profound impact on their lives.
The family was deeply satisfied and grateful for this visit, cherishing the meaningful experience that will forever remain in their hearts.
