Sichuan Climate

Due to the complex geographical position, the weather in Sichuan varies greatly from place to place. Then the province is divided into three major geographical regions based on the different kind of weather. They are: a region of high mountains in the southwest, a high plateau in the northwest, and a lowland region in the eastern part of the province. Two main climate is the Southeast Pacific Ocean Monsoon and the Southwest Indian Ocean Monsoon.

Northwestern High Plateau
Because of the special position of the high mountain region in the southwest, its weather is typical of high plateaus: there is a long winter, a cold summer, but lots of sunshine. May you will feel a little cold during the night. Compared with basin, there is a big difference between them, parts of the plateau may bask in 2,500 hours of sunshine a year. Mountainous Southwest
As you know, the climate is change depends on the altitude. So the mountainous in Sichuan Province are good place to go in summer, you can enjoy the cool it bring to you.

Western Lowlands
Located in the lowlands, the western basin area is warmer than the higher elevations, but often cloudy of foggy. You may heard about :The City of Fog”-London, but even some people compare Chengdu’s weather to that of London and say that it is even cloudier. This area features a subtropical monsoon climate. It is fairly warm in the winter and dry in the spring, but hot in the summer and rainy in the autumn. In January, the average temperature is about 5-8 degrees Celsius (41-46 degree Fahrenheit), while in July it is 5-29 degrees Celsius (77-84 degrees Fahrenheit). The most days of one year are cloudy and rainy days. There is a big difference between western lowlands and Chengdu. The rainy time is much longer than it in the western lowlands while the dry season extends from October through April.
