Qinghai Food

It is natural to find a similar level of diversity in your dining experience while touring Qinghai, for Qinghai is a special diverse place with a population comprised of several different minority groups. A large number of the great culinary traditions of China represented here, however, most of them are influenced by Muslim, such as the wide selection of noodles, mutton dishes and various flatbreads. So various special food of Qinghai features plenty of cuisines from different ethnic minorities.  

Mian Pian is a kind of square flat noodles, very delicious. Noodles in a beef broth are great on a cold day. As the abundant lamb dishes, the most famous dishes must be the Shouzhua Yangrou (eat the boiled mutton with your hands), and the Huangmen Yangrou (a spicy mutton fried with potatoes and vagetables). Other famous Qinghai dishes include the Chinese Caterpillar Fungus (Dongchong Xiacao), Chrysanthemum Carp (Li Yu), Flagelliform Nostoc (Facai), Soup Cooked with Lamb and Oxen Entrails (Zasui Tang) and various forms of local mushroom.
