4 Days Yangtze River Cruise from Chongqing
Tour Route: Chongqing, Yangtze, Yichang
Today our guide will pick you up from your Chongqing hotel or airport. The daily tour starts at the Goose Neck Park. This place is more than popular with the local people and they often come here to relax or play mah-jong. Also, in this park is a very long wall painting of the Yangtze River and it is generally a very nice and peaceful place which offers serenity and peace. After the visit to this park, the next stop is the Ciqikou Old Town, This place is partially restored and you can enjoy narrow streets and old wooden architecture there. Also, this part of the city is full of various souvenir shops and snack bars and it gives an ideal opportunity to catch some of the local taste. The last attraction of the day is Chongqing Zoo with its Panda Room. There you can see various pretty rare animals but the absolute highlight is the Panda Room where you can see Giant and Lesser pandas together with their cubs. Many of the local people practice the Tai Chi in the zoo and you are more than welcome to join them.
Day 2 Yangtze River
Shibaozhai, literally means Stone Treasure Fortress, Located in Zhong County, it was first built in Qing Dynasty in 1750. Shibaozhai is one historic site that will look much different in 2009. The wooden architecture stands on the riverside. It is built by catch upon a rectangular rock with sheer cliffs with a height of 56 meters and 12 stories. And every floor of the wooden structure contains interesting artifacts. Each of the 12 floors of Shibaozhai is dedicated to a famous general of the Three Kingdoms period (220-265AD), a local scholar or a renowned Chinese poet.This day is definitely packed with action onboard the ship so you will have a welcoming banquet, a Thai chi lessons and the visit to the Fengdu Ghost City. This place is very specific as the Fengdu is the Chinese equivalent of hell. It is said that the evil that die go to the Fengdu and this city is rather spooky and unnerving. All of the buildings and streets are empty except for the people who are visiting and those who lead the tours. It is dominated by the Ming Shan Hill which is considered to be the home of Tianzi, who is King of the Dead. There are some 100 steps from the river to the city and a cable car ride is also available to the top of the hill although this isn’t included in the price of the tour.
Day 3 Yangtze River
Passes through the 1st gorge--Qutang Gorge. Passes through the 2cd gorge---Wu Gorge. Shore excursion to Shennong Stream(1:30pm-5:30pm). You have the option of visiting White Emperor City(RMB260 per person). Crew's Performance. Sails through the 5-steps Ship locks. Shennong Stream is another tributary of the Yangtze River, and its fast-flowing, crystal clear water runs southwards through deep gorges. The stream races past large and small karst caves, flocks of swallows, sheer cliffs, deep gorges, waterfalls, three-colored springs, rapids, the ancient plank path, a suspended coffin in the cliff, groups of ancient tombs and marvelous karst formations Passing through the gorges of the Yangtze River allows you to enjoy the view that is simply breathtaking and after you pass them, the visit to the Shennong Stream is predicted. This is a small tributary to Yangtze River and it looks very beautiful since it combines several different features like deep gorges, steep cliffs, rapids and crystal clear water. There is an option of visiting the White Emperor City but it is not included in the tour cost and the admission fee is some RMB 260. After that the boat goes through 16 ship locks to enter the lower part of the Yangtze River.
Day 4 Departure from Yichang
The Three Gorges Dam is the biggest construction of this kind ever made by men and it was a generations-long dream for the people of China. Finally, in 2003 the dam was finished and in 2009 it became fully operational. The top level of the dam is open for visitors and you will have the chance to stand on it and take some pictures. After that the tour passes through the last great gorge, the Xiling Gorge and the trip ends in 13:00 with disembarkation at Yichang.
