6 Days Shanghai Hangzhou and Huangshan Tour
Tour Route: Shanghai, Hangzhou, Huangshan
Meet our guide and be transferred to hotel. In the evening, you can explore the Shikumen and Xintiandi area yourself. There is a bar street where bars are open until very late into night.
Day 2 Shanghai
After breakfast, you will begin your day with a visit to the fantastic Yuyuan Garden, a classical garden in downtown Shanghai which boasts a history over 400 years. Each pavilion, hall, stone and stream in the garden is expressing the quintessence of South China landscape design from Ming and Qing Dynasty. Later on, you will visit the Jade Buddha Temple. Thereafter, visit the world renowned Shanghai Bund and have a stroll along the emporium-lined Nanjing Road. Take a glimpse into Shanghai's architecture and see how it looked centuries ago. This landmark known for its distinct neo-classic architecture of 52 European style buildings not only lined the Huangpu River but also at one time in the past housed most financial institutions including national banks that were considered part of the "Big Four." In the evening you will attend a mesmerizing Shanghai Acrobatic Show which will conclude the night.
Day 3 Shanghai to Hangzhou
After breakfast, we will take the high speed train (soft seat) for about one hour to reach Hangzhou, a city widely known as "paradise on earth". We'll be visiting Lingyin Temple, one of the most famous Buddhist temples in China which attracts thousands of visitors daily. We will later cruise on the West Lake, a lake to which so many ancient and modern Chinese poets and prose writers devoted their literary works. In addition, Hefang Antique Street in Hangzhou is an attractive place for those Chinese antique fans. Wish you can find something you love!
Day 4 Hangzhou to Huangshan
We will drive for about four hours to reach Huangshan by the newly completed Hangzhou-Huangshan Highway. It is safe to say that Mt. Huangshan is the most fantastic mountain in China, probably also in the world and its fabulous views are simply out of question. We'll sightsee the Beginning-to-believe Peak, Lion Peak and Refreshing Terrace after taking cable car up mountain from the eastern steps. Since you'll have to carry everything yourself up Huangshan unless you hire a porter, it is advisable that you leave your big luggage in the hotel in downtown Tunxi and bring only a small handbag or backpack with you up mountain.
Day 5 Huangshan
Watch the magnificent sunrise in the early morning. Today, we'll explore for half a day the Grand Canyon where the scenery is just breathtaking. Later, we'll be trekking from the eastern steps to the western steps of Huangshan to explore fully the sublime views of the whole mountain, including the Flying-over Rock, Bright Summit, Narrow Cliff, Stone Monk in Meditation, Lotus Peak which is the highest with an elevation of 1864 meters, Sleeping Beauty and Celestial Capital Peak. "The Long March" takes about 4 hours before we reach Beihai Hotel where we'll stay overnight.
Day 6 Huangshan to Shanghai
Today we will be visiting Hongcun and Xidi Villages--world heritage site. Those two villages, which were included into the list of world heritage site by UNESCO in 2000, offer visitors a rare chance to appreciate the old residential houses of Ming and Qing dynasties. Back to the downtown in the afternoon and have a pleasant stroll along the famous Old Street, center of the old town section. Leave Huangshan for Shanghai by flight or train in the evening, or by public bus in the afternoon.
