Tour Route: Beijing, Xian, Chengdu
Upon your arrival, our guide will be expecting you outside the customs of the Capital Airport and transfer you to the 4-star Holiday Inn Central Plaza Hotel in a comfortable and clean car. For the remainder of the day, you can have a good rest to release the jet lag. If you cannot wait to start the visit, you may take a taxi or walk all the way west along the Zaolin Front Street to the Ox Street to have a taste of the best local Muslim food.
Day 2 Beijing
Your escorted China tour starts form the center of the city - Tiananmen Square, which used to be the imperial square of the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911) and now is the world's largest city square. Walking northward across the square, you will reach the Forbidden City, the royal palace in the Ming (1368 - 1644) and Qing dynasties. As the world's largest and best preserved ancient architectural complex of wooden structure, it has over 8,000 pavilions and houses thousands of time-honored treasures. For today's lunch, you will enjoy our special offer - the a la carte (valued at CNY150.00 per person and included in our price) Chinese food at one of the best local restaurants, which is also mostly recommended by our previous clients. In the afternoon, you will continue to visit the Temple of Heaven, the royal altar of the Ming and Qing dynasties. A fantastic Chinese Kung Fu Show at the Red Theatre will be tonight's highlight and you will be impressed by the excellent performance.
Day 3 Beijing
Your guide will pick you up in the early morning for the trip to Badaling Great Wall and a Jade Factory. As one of the elite sections of the Great Wall, it stretches for over 3,700 m (4,046 yards) along the ridge of Badaling Mountain. You will also see many beacon towers and relics on this ancient defensive long wall. The restaurants nearby the site are in low quality, so we do not arrange the lunch today. It may be the best that you have a big breakfast at the hotel and take some snacks for your lunch. Visit the Sacred Way and the Ming Tomb in the afternoon. The Sacred Way is the main path to the Ming Tomb where 13 emperors and their wives of the Ming Dynasty were buried. The cultural relics exhibited here will tell you more about the imperial tombs in ancient times. The whole day's sightseeing will come to an end after seeing the appearance of Bird's Nest on the way to the urban area.
Day 4 Beijing to Xian
This morning you will visit the Summer Palace. Being a royal garden of the Qing Dynasty, it boasts charming landscape of lakes, hills and rear plants, as well as elegant garden buildings of halls, pavilions, bridges and long corridors. Then visit a Pearl Workshop. We will serve you an a la carte lunch (valued at CNY100.00 per person and included in our price) at a fancy restaurant with delicious food and great atmosphere. In the afternoon, following your guide, you will trace the old Beijing by walking along the narrow but original Hutong alleys, appreciating the oldest gray brick courtyards and getting a close touch with the life of local families. Then fly to the ancient capital city Xian. A local guide will pick you up and help you check in at the hotel.
Day 5 Xian
Today's itinerary goes from the world famous Terracotta Warriors and Houses Museum. The square formations of clay warriors and horses, as the part of the mausoleum of the First Emperor of the Qin Dynasty (221BC - 207BC), were discovered accidentally by local farmers, which then unveiled the “eighth wonder in the world”. Then drop by a Pottery-making House. At lunch time, you will visit a local family and have an a la carte lunch (valued at CNY100.00 per person and included in our price) in the family, where you can enjoy authentic home made Chinese dishes. A short cooking class is also prepared so that you can enjoy not only the gourmet food but also the fun of cooking them. After that, visit the Small Wild Goose Pagoda which is standing in Xian Museum. The Small Wild Goose Pagoda was built in the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907) to store the Buddhist scriptures and statues. At night, after enjoying Dumpling Dinner you will be entertained at the Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show.
Day 6 Xian
In the morning, visit the City Wall. Constructed in the Ming Dynasty, the City Wall is one of the landmark buildings of Xian. Standing on the grey brick paved wall, you can overlook this ancient city. About 10 minutes' drive away, you will reach Shaanxi Provincial History Museum. The large storage of precious cultural relics from the Shang Dynasty (17th - 11th Century BC) to the Qing Dynasty unfold the glorious Chinese history and culture in front of you. After an a la carte lunch (valued at CNY100.00 per person and included in our price), continue to visit the Great Mosque in the afternoon. The Great Mosque is a unique Islam mosque as it was built in the style of Tang-dynasty architecture instead of the Islamic dome and minaret. You can also have a taste of the local snacks on the Muslim Street when finishing the visit to the mosque.
Day 7 Xian to Chengdu
This morning you will go to the airport for the flight to Chengdu. Upon arrival, your guide will pick you up and transfer you to the 4-star Holiday Inn Chengdu Oriental Plaza, and then help you check in for a 2-night stay. Lunch is not included today and you will arrange it on your own. Our guide will be pleased to help you find a proper restaurant upon your request. After a brief rest, you will start your Chengdu trip with Sichuan Museum. Built in 1941, this museum is an important place housing and displaying the precious cultural relics of Sichuan province. There are almost 300,000 collections in the museum, among which the Ba Shu bronze ware, painting works of Zhang Daqian, Sichuan painted bricks of Han Dynasty and potteries are the most distinctive ones.
Day 8 Chengdu
Today you will pay a visit to the lovely giant pandas in Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Giant Panda only inhabits in China, so it is regarded as the national treasure of the country. You will enjoy an rich a la carte lunch (valued at CNY100.00 per person and included in our price) at a good local restuarant. After that, you will proceed to visit Jinsha Site Museum in the afternoon. Covering an area of 5 square kilometers, it is the historical remains of the Shang and Zhou dynasties (1700BC-221BC) focusing on the cultural relics' exhibit and the sacrificial site. The Site Hall and the Exhibition Hall are two main buildings in the museum. The Site Hall allows visitors to observe the archaeological excavation process at close range. There are four display rooms in the Exhibition Hall, fully showing the splendid and brilliant culture of Jinsha from different ways. The Gold Mask and the Sun and Immortal Bird displayed in the fourth hall will leave you with deep impression. Also the 4D cinema Dream Back to Jinsha will take you back to more than 3000 years ancient Shu Kingdom and show you the splendid culture at Jinsha. Then our guide will escort you to explore the Broad and Narrow Alleys of Chengdu, which is one of the three historical and cultural conservation areas in Chengdu featuring the ancient streets of the Qing Dynasty. The old but fashionable streets and courtyard houses will not only take you back to the ancient Chengdu but show you a new life of this vivid city.
Day 9 Departure from Chengdu
After breakfast, please check out the hotel before 12:00 and find your own way to the airport for your flight. You can take a taxi to Chengdu airport directly, at costing about CNY100. Or you may choose the airport shuttle bus instead. Please take a taxi by about 12 minutes to reach the Minshan Hotel, where you will find the airport shuttle bus. The bus ticket costs only CNY10. After about half an hour, you will arrive at the airport. We wish you a nice trip home.
